Most schools across India reopened last week after festival holidays and rain-related closures. Regular classes have resumed in states where schools were closed due to rain. However, some states and districts will keep schools closed tomorrow, November 11, due to assembly and by-elections.
Several regions have announced school closures tomorrow because of assembly and by-elections scheduled on November 11.
Delhi-NCR authorities may shut schools if the Air Quality Index (AQI) remains in the severe category to protect students from polluted air. Some areas have already reached severe AQI levels, which cause serious breathing difficulties.
"Breathing air in places with a ‘very poor’ AQI is equivalent to smoking 6 to 10 cigarettes a day, while in areas with a ‘severe’ AQI, it is like smoking 16 to 20 cigarettes daily."
Most schools in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad have suspended outdoor activities to reduce health risks. Additionally, school assemblies have been canceled, and air purifiers installed within school premises to limit students' exposure to toxic air.
Parents and students are encouraged to stay updated via their school's official website and WhatsApp groups for the latest information on closures and health advisories.
Schools across India will mostly be open tomorrow except in areas affected by elections and severe air pollution, with Delhi-NCR taking extra precautions against hazardous air quality.
