Forecasters predict that a weather system moving into southern Ontario this weekend will bring the season’s first significant snowfall to many areas, including the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
After recent unseasonably warm fall weather in southern Ontario, temperatures are set to drop in the coming days. This temperature decline will likely trigger the arrival of snow across the region.
“It’s been actually a very quiet season so far for the greater Golden Horseshoe, but that’s about to change,” said Gerald Cheng, Environment Canada warning preparedness meteorologist, in an interview with National Post.
The GTA is expected to see snowflakes starting Saturday night, continuing overnight, with a snow-covered landscape greeting residents on Sunday morning. Some parts of the GTA may receive up to 15 cm of snow.
Meanwhile, areas north of Toronto, Ottawa, and parts of Quebec could experience even heavier snowfall.
