Rapper 6ix9ine recently appeared on Adin Ross’s Kick stream, where he asserted that his behavior and early internet fame laid the groundwork for the modern content creation boom. According to him, today’s generation of streamers and creators owe him for paving the way.
The entertainment world has blurred lines between music and streaming. Many rappers are now embracing streaming platforms, while prominent streamers aim for rap stardom. The financial appeal is clear: streamers openly share that the revenue on Twitch often surpasses their music earnings.
DDG once told DJ Akademiks, “For what I signed for, I made that in 30 days on Twitch.”
6ix9ine believes his rise to fame — defined by controversy, trolling, and viral antics — sparked the shift where online content and drama began to outweigh the music itself. He insists that his dominance on social media set the stage for platforms like TikTok, Kick, and Twitch to thrive.
“In 2018, there was no TikTok,” he says. “Let me get this point across … I walked, I went to jail, I entertained you guys with real-life crimes. I was out there putting my life on the line so you guys could run.”
“When Vine was a thing, remember? I was the original content creator. It’s the right message, wrong messenger. But these are facts.”
Despite his polarizing reputation, 6ix9ine went on to acknowledge and respect today’s major streamers, including Adin Ross, Kai Cenat, and IShowSpeed, for continuing the online entertainment evolution.
6ix9ine claims his controversial career inspired the current generation of streamers and content creators, declaring himself a forerunner of the social media entertainment wave.
