Andersen, now an associate professor of English at Dominican University, reflects on her upbringing in Ravenswood and her connection to the Jefferson Park neighborhood, which she describes as
a scrap of small-town Wisconsin or Michigan sewn into the patchwork of Chicago.
The neighborhood is also home to her ex-partner, Michael Patrick Thornton, co-founder of The Gift Theatre. The book explores the intersection of art and life in this community.
