Tasmania’s Chief Thoroughbred Steward Dismissed
Tasracing has terminated the employment of Tasmania’s chief thoroughbred steward due to "conduct-related matters" following an investigation.
The steward was stood down on September 21, just days after starting in the role on September 15, but the details of the misconduct have not been disclosed.
The conduct was described as "disappointing" by Racing Integrity Commissioner Sean Carroll.
Carroll expressed satisfaction with how Tasracing handled the situation and used the incident to reinforce his expectations for the industry.
Tasracing and the state’s racing watchdog have not provided further information on the matter.
