Pierce County Sheriff's Office Arrests Fleeing Driver
Deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after a pursuit in a stolen box truck over the weekend.
The chase began on Sunday night when a deputy spotted the truck driving on 198th Ave East near Bonney Lake. The driver fled when the deputy attempted to stop the truck, leading to a pursuit.
Video released by the sheriff's office shows a deputy using a PIT (precision immobilization technique) to try to stop the truck. As the deputy says on video:
"Two attempted PITs, he drove out of both of them. Third time's a charm."
- The truck crashed into a grove of trees after the third PIT maneuver.
- The driver had to be pulled from the smoking box truck.
