Delays in the Postal Service are making the newspaper business even more challenging.
Subscribers have reported delays of up to two months. Jill Friesz, owner of GS Publishing, which operates seven weekly newspapers in North Dakota, has experienced firsthand the frustration of her subscribers.
“He was telling me he was tired of my excuses and that he may as well just quit subscribing to the paper,”
Friesz said, recalling a subscriber who visited her office in late September. Many subscribers have expressed similar frustration, with some stating that they see no point in getting the newspaper since it never arrives on time.
According to Friesz,
“I have so many frustrated people that call and just say, ‘Well, there’s no point in me getting the newspaper because it never gets delivered to me,’”
