BOBCATS TO PLAY FOR STATE SOCCER TITLE SATURDAY

The Freeman Academy soccer team is one win away from the school's first-ever state championship.

The third-seed Bobcats will play top-seeded James Valley Christian for the Class A title on Saturday, Oct. 18, after upsetting second-seed Vermillion 3-1.

The Bobcats previously handed James Valley its only loss of the season, 2-1, on Sept.

The Bobcat's win over Vermillion, the defending state champion, came less than two weeks after the Tanagers defeated the Bobcats 3-1.

Saturday's game was tied 1-1 at half, but the Bobcats surged ahead after goalkeeper Ben Clark stopped a penalty kick and scored twice to secure the win.

Author's summary: Bobcats advance to state soccer title game.
