State GOP Leaders Shut Down Kansas Young Republicans Chapter
GOP leaders in Kansas are shutting down the state's Young Republicans chapter following leaked chats that included racist and antisemitic messages.
The messages, exchanged via Telegram, were among thousands between young GOP leaders nationwide. According to Politico, the chats included derogatory language towards Black people and discussions about harming political opponents.
They referred to Black people as monkeys and "the watermelon people" and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.
The leaked chats named two Kansas Young Republican leaders: Chair Alex Dwyer and Vice Chair Will Hendrix. The shutdown of the chapter comes after the revelation of these disturbing messages.
