Prescription Drug Take Back Day
The Ingham County Sheriff's Office is partnering with Delta Dental of Michigan for its annual prescription drug take back day on Wednesday from 3pm to 6pm at Delta Dental in Okemos.
This event coincides with National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 25. During the drive-thru event, anyone can drop off unused prescription drugs, including pain relievers, anti-depressants, sleep aids, and pet medications, with no questions asked.
Last year, the Ingham County Sheriff's department and Delta Dental collected over 70 pounds of unused prescription drugs. According to the health department, prescription drug abuse has increased among youth over the past decade, with about 80 percent of people misusing prescription drugs obtaining them from family members and friends.
