Aren Pearson, 41, has been found guilty of murdering his partner, Claire Leveque, 24, in a hot tub in Shetland.
According to the indictment, Pearson repeatedly struck Ms Leveque on the head, neck, and body with knives or similar instruments, and also inflicted blunt force trauma and compressed her neck.
Ms Leveque, a Canadian national, was found with serious injuries and died a short time later.
Pearson had left the house and driven his car into the sea before returning to the house, where he was arrested.
A "cruel and selfish" act, the assault was described as "truly horrifying".
The incident occurred on February 11, 2024, at a property in the Sandness area.
