Biodiscovery Plan Risks Māori Sovereignty and Seed Protection
The Government is investing $43 million over seven years in a new biodiversity platform to explore native plants and flora for potential medicines and industries.
Sheridan Waitai, a member of the Ngāti Kuri Trust Board, warns that the plan risks exploiting Māori knowledge and resources, an issue unresolved 40 years after the WAI 262 Waitangi Tribunal claim.
