Dozens of Roberts Bakery workers have lost their redundancy packages and earned pay after the company was acquired and renamed by a billionaire food magnate.
In July, the struggling Frank Roberts & Sons, the bakery's parent company, announced that 250 workers would enter a compulsory redundancy consultation period. Of these, 86 workers were deemed surplus to requirements and their contractual notice periods were initiated.
The length of the notice periods varied depending on the worker's tenure, with some expecting to finish as early as next week and others expecting to remain employed until December 12.
No official statement has been released regarding the situation.
