The Trump administration requested that nine universities, including the University of Virginia, sign an agreement in exchange for preferential access to federal funding by October 20th.
UVA's student government, along with six other schools, opposed the deal. Faculty members also expressed widespread opposition to the proposed agreement, known as the Compact for Academic Excellence.
