Alberta is getting new licence plates. The UCP announced a 'tournament-style' online vote to select a new design, replacing the current one from 1984.
The new plate will feature the words 'Strong and Free', adopted as the provincial motto in 1980. This phrase is also part of the UCP's slogan and a nod to Canada's national anthem.
'Strong and Free' will serve as a nod to Canada's national anthem and Alberta's position as a strong and sovereign province within a united Canada.
