Director Scott Cooper on Working with Bruce Springsteen

Director Scott Cooper spoke to MOJO about his experience working with Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Allen White on the new biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere.

Bruce came out of the movie with tears in his eyes...

Cooper noted that making a film about a cultural icon like Springsteen comes with a certain level of pressure, especially when the subject himself visits the set. This occurred just four days into shooting, when Springsteen dropped by one of the movie's New Jersey locations.

The film is based on Warren Zanes' 2023 Nebraska-era biography, and Cooper expressed his approach to working with Springsteen, stating:

Look, any time you’re making a film about a cultural icon and someone who’s as legendary as Bruce, there’s always trepidation, right?

Cooper added that

Bruce was never directive.
