Jury Deliberates in Murder Trial of Guards
The case of three state corrections officers accused of murdering inmate Robert Brooks is now in the hands of an Oneida County jury.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys presented their closing statements in a packed Utica courtroom, after which deliberations began at around 4 p.m.
A group of prison guards at the Marcy Correctional Facility turned into “a gang of murderers” on the night of Dec. 9, 2024 - Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick.
The autopsy of Robert L. Brooks revealed injuries to his head, neck, testicles, liver, and spleen, resulting from three alleged attacks by the guards.
