Living the Beautiful Philosophy of Self-Giving

The insight that each person is a unique and wonderful idea and ideal is a powerful one. We are called to live our lives as self-gifts, open and receptive to the mystery of others.

I have great admiration for David Brooks, a New York Times columnist, whose columns often challenge and inspire me. One column in particular, "Personalism: The Philosophy We Need" (June 14, 2018), resonated with me.

Our culture does a pretty good job of ignoring the uniqueness of each person.

As someone who presents the philosophy of personalism to students, I find Brooks' words to be especially meaningful.
