Baltimore Man Arrested After Vehicle and Foot Pursuit
A Baltimore man is in police custody following a vehicle and foot pursuit on Interstate 395 northbound.
Rashad Smith has been charged with felony eluding, felony hit and run, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Virginia State Police, the pursuit began when a trooper attempted to stop Smith, who had previously eluded an Alexandria City Police Department officer.
- The pursuit started at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Interstate 395 northbound.
- The suspect vehicle exited at Shirlington Circle.
- The pursuit continued to Arlington Mill Drive and South Randolph Street, where the suspect vehicle struck another vehicle.
Smith abandoned his vehicle in a nearby parking garage and attempted to flee on foot but was captured with the assistance of Arlington County Police and Alexandria City Police.
