Jennifer Ott, the current city manager of Alameda, has been chosen to lead the city of Hayward, replacing Ana Alvarez who resigned under mysterious circumstances.
Ott is a familiar face in Hayward, having previously served as a deputy city manager from 2018 to 2022, before becoming an assistant city manager. She will start her new role on December 8 with a base salary of $393,000.
"I am very excited for the opportunity to join former and new colleagues at the city of Hayward and meet the immediate challenges and future opportunities together,"
Ott wrote in an October statement, though she was not present at the meeting due to attending the Alameda City Council's meeting.
