Danantara is currently selecting investors to join the project.
The CEO of Indonesian sovereign wealth fund Danantara, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, stated that over 204 foreign investors are interested in the government's waste-to-energy project.
"We have started the tender process, and more than 204 have joined,"
Rosan said at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs in Jakarta on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Danantara expects the selection process for investors to conclude by November 2025, and subsequently hold a bidding, with the tender process to be completed by early 2026.
"Our task is to draw in investors,"
he said, but Rosan admitted that it wouldn't be a problem if there were no investors involved in this project.
"We can still run this program."
The Danantara and ministry-led project aims to process 1,000 tons of waste per day into electricity for 20 thousand households across Indonesia.
