Seattle Storm Hires Liberty Assistant Sonia Raman as Head Coach

Sonia Raman will be the new head coach of the Seattle Storm, succeeding Noelle Quinn.

Raman, 51, brings previous head coaching experience from a 12-year term at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s women’s program, where she guided the Engineers to two New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference titles.

NY Liberty assistant Sonia Raman has agreed to a multiyear deal to become the new head coach of the Seattle Storm, sources tell ESPN.

Leading the negotiations were Andy Latack and Steve Neff of Klutch Sports. Raman spent last season as an assistant coach on the New York Liberty’s championship defense.

Raman is the ninth full-time head coach in franchise history and the all-time winningest coach in MIT program history.
