A recent survey reveals a disturbing trend: more Australians are using their mobile phones while driving, posing a significant threat to road safety.
The survey, which has been conducted over a five-year period, shows a steady increase in confidence among drivers to use their phones while behind the wheel, from 12% in 2020 to 22% in the latest survey.
Respondents cited feeling safe and capable (44%) as the main reason for using their phone while driving, followed by habit (17%) and emergency (15%).
Almost half of the survey respondents admitted to using their phone while driving in the past two weeks.
