Extension of Interim Protection for Journalist Abhisar Sharma
The Gauhati High Court has extended interim protection for journalist Abhisar Sharma until November 17.
Sharma's protection was granted in connection with an FIR registered against him for alleged remarks accusing Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of pursuing communal politics.
A bench of Justice Shamima Jahan extended the relief as the state failed to produce the case diary as ordered by the HC on September 19.
- The FIR was registered under Sections 152, 196, and 197 of the law.
- Sharma had challenged the FIR, but the Supreme Court refused to entertain his case.
Sharma moved the HC after the Supreme Court's refusal.
