COI Energy has developed a patented platform that allows businesses to sell and share their unused electricity, addressing a long-standing issue in the energy allocation system for large enterprises.
Typically, large enterprises with multi-building campuses purchase a standard monthly capacity of electricity, which is based on their maximum usage needs, even if this maximum capacity is only rarely utilized.
After earning her degree in mechanical engineering (and later an MBA), she spent 25 years as an energy engineer at major utility companies like PECO, Con Edison, and Exelon, as well as at a few clean energy startups.
COI Energy founder and CEO, SaLisa Berrien, was motivated to find a solution to this problem due to her personal experience of struggling with electricity bills as a child.
