Hackers Disrupt Russia’s Food System

Russia’s food safety watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, has been affected by a cyberattack, impacting shipments of meat, milk, and baby food nationwide.

A large DDoS attack on October 22, 2025, briefly took the Mercury platform offline, a system used to approve animal product shipments, causing several hours of outage and forcing companies to halt deliveries.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has turned cyberspace into yet another battlefield.

Despite official claims that operations are running normally, the cyberattack has disrupted the food system, with Moscow’s military campaign also including coordinated cyberattacks against Ukraine’s government, power grid, and financial sector.
