Afghanistan's Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, has attributed the exclusion of women from a press conference in New Delhi to a "technical error" rather than intentional gender discrimination.
It was more a technical issue… Our colleagues had decided to send an invitation to a specific list of journalists and there was no other intention apart from this.
Muttaqi responded to criticism from Indian media and politicians, stating that the decision was not based on gender discrimination and was due to a short notice and a limited list of journalists.
He has since invited women journalists to attend another press interaction, addressing the initial exclusion.
