Hurricane Melissa, a category 5 hurricane, made landfall on Jamaica, becoming one of the strongest hurricanes on record in the Atlantic Basin.
According to the National Hurricane Center, at landfall, winds were 185mph, and the pressure dropped to 892 mb, tying the storm for the third lowest pressure in the Atlantic Basin.
As Melissa moves northeast, impacts will reach Cuba and the Bahamas. The storm will still be a hurricane as it crosses several islands in the Bahamas.
The National Hurricane Center has released the official track and intensity forecast, with Melissa being the fourth major hurricane of the 2025 season and the third category 5 hurricane.
Melissa is now in the record books.
