Dispute Over Childcare Assistance Program Funding in Rensselaer County
Rensselaer County has announced that it will no longer accept re-certification applications for the state-supported childcare assistance program due to a lack of funding from New York State.
According to the New York State Office for Children and Family Services (OCFS), Rensselaer County has not requested the available $558,232 supplemental funding. However, Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin disagrees, stating
"The state owes us an apology".
