As the federal government shutdown continues into its fourth week, many Morgan County families face the possibility that November SNAP benefits may not be issued.
Rising Up Food Pantry in Fort Morgan, the county's largest pantry, is preparing for increased demand and encouraging calm, compassion, and community support.
“Times can be scary,” said Pam Hernandez, founder and executive director of Rising Up. “It’s important to remember we’re part of a caring community. We’re here to support one another.”
Rising Up serves all of Morgan County, currently supporting around 1,200 individuals and 500 families each month, with 5-10 new families registering each week.
