Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
Following an incredible play to end regulation and a hard-fought overtime period, Blinn College women's soccer was unable to overcome No. 14 Tyler Junior College in a Region 14 Tournament quarterfinal match Tuesday at Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.
After the two teams played to a tie across 110 minutes of regulation and overtime, the Apaches outscored the Buccaneers 4-2 in the penalty kick round to advance in the postseason tournament. Blinn concluded its season with a 9-3-3 record.
"This one feels a lot like when we fell on penalty kicks in the 2023 region semifinals," Bucs head coach Alexandria said. "We believed there was more for this team and this group of players to accomplish, which makes it all the more heartbreaking to see it end this way."
Blinn's season was just seconds away from ending in regulation, but a foul with 12 seconds left awarded the Bucs a free kick in Tyler's final third.
