Apple has confirmed that US passport support is coming to Apple Wallet, as announced at WWDC25.
An update on the Apple website indicated that this feature is expected by the end of the year, and Jennifer Bailey, VP of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet, confirmed this in a conference keynote.
The digital passport will work similarly to Apple Pay transactions. Users will tap their iPhone to a reader, and their passport information will be transmitted via NFC.
The secure protocol used will allow the TSA system to verify the authenticity of passport details.
US passport support will work in much the same way as making an Apple Pay transaction.
