Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the alleged assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, has made a request through his lawyers ahead of a court hearing.
Robinson's lawyers argued that if the request is not met, it could make it more difficult to have a fair trial. Robinson was arrested and charged with seven offenses, including aggravated murder and obstruction of justice, after Kirk was shot and killed at a Utah Valley University event on September 10.
A massive manhunt led to Robinson's arrest, and he could face capital punishment if convicted. Utah is one of five states that still uses a firing squad as a method of capital punishment.
No potential motive for the killing has been given by officials.
