‘Elsbeth’ Costume Designer Dan Lawson Talks Recreating ‘My Fair Lady’ Outfits for Halloween Episode (Exclusive)

Recreating 'My Fair Lady' Outfits for Elsbeth's Halloween Episode

Elsbeth's costume designer, Dan Lawson, spoke to PopCulture.com about the show's Halloween episode, where Carrie Preston's character celebrated Halloweek by dressing up as Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady every day.

The episode, "Ick, a Bod," featured guest star Annaleigh Ashford as a suburban housewife and a murder in Sleepy Hollow on Halloween night. However, Elsbeth chose to celebrate the holiday for the entire week, wearing multiple costumes inspired by the 1964 movie starring Audrey Hepburn.

There was a lot that went into it — from the dresses to the hats to making sure everything was precise.

The costumes were an adaptation of the 1956 Lerner and Loewe stage musical, based on George Bernard Shaw's 1913 stage play Pygmalion. Dan Lawson discussed the process of recreating these iconic outfits for the episode.
