'The Witcher' showrunner addresses Season 5 release window after fourth installment's massive delay

The Witcher Showrunner Addresses Season 5 Release Window

The final season of The Witcher was announced in April 2024, during the filming of Season 4, and was filmed in spring 2025.

Season 4 is currently streaming on Netflix, but its release was delayed. The show has seen a significant change with Liam Hemsworth taking over as Geralt of Rivia after Henry Cavill's exit.

"It's hopefully shorter,"
"Two and a half years is never ideal."

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich attributed the delay of Season 4 to the writers' strike. Regarding Season 5, she stated:

"We are working so hard in post, we wrapped almost a month ago. We’re pushing ahead and hope to be able to deliver it to audiences a little bit sooner."

Hissrich also mentioned that she won't be saying goodbye to the show yet, as she's involved in post-production for Season 5.
