BMA Criticizes Government's Pay Offer
The British Medical Association (BMA) has slammed the Government's proposed 2.5% pay increase for doctors in 2026 as "indefensible".
The Department for Health and Social Care stated that this pay uplift is possible without compromising key health commitments.

However, with the current RPI inflation at 4.5%, the BMA argues that this offer represents a real-terms pay cut for doctors. Newly qualified doctors would see a mere 47p hourly pay rise, from £18.62 to £19.09.
