The West Virginia University women's basketball team showcased their dominant post play, led by forwards Jordan Thomas and Kierra Wheeler, to win their season opener against Purdue Fort Wayne with a score of 83-47.
"We could play through the paint last year, but we did it differently," said WVU head coach Mark Kellogg. "We did it off the dribble with the guards. Now, we have some bodies we can throw the ball into, which I thought we did a good job of early."
Thomas and Wheeler combined for 26 points and 12 rebounds, paving the way for the Mountaineers' victory. Author's summary: WVU women's hoops team wins opener.
