SR 9 Closure in Sedro-Woolley
A portion of State Route 9 in Sedro-Woolley will remain closed for an indefinite amount of time due to damaged railroad crossing safety equipment.
The damage occurred when a wrong-way vehicle collided with the rail crossing signal box on SR 9 overnight on Saturday. The box, owned by BNSF Railway, facilitates safe crossings and is currently beyond repair.
- The road is closed between SR 20 (milepost 55) and West State Street/Trail Road (milepost 64).
- Drivers can detour around the closure using West State Street and Trail Road.
The state Department of Transportation is coordinating with the railway to order replacement equipment, and crews will temporarily adjust the signal timing on SR 20 during the closure.
No official timeline for the replacement has been announced.
