Blakeman is running again for Nassau County executive, but in 2009, he sought the Republican nomination for New York City mayor.
In his 2009 campaign, Blakeman ran an ad stating:
"I’m one of you"to residents of the five boroughs, claiming
"Bruce Blakeman grew up on the border of Queens and lives in Manhattan!”
However, fact-checking reveals that Valley Stream, where Blakeman is from, is located in one of the most western parts of Nassau County, on the border of New York City.
Blakeman's qualifications and experience include being a busboy, dishwasher, bartender, garbageman, janitor, bouncer, teacher, lawyer, councilman, legislator, commissioner, and businessman.
