An overnight two-alarm fire completely destroyed the restaurant Unwined on the Water located on Plum Point Road in Elkton. The fire broke out around 1:40 a.m. on Thursday morning, leaving little of the establishment intact.

Community Reaction

Regular customers, including Christine and Stan Kaminski, expressed shock and sadness at the loss. Christine said,

“When I first heard about it, I was like shocked. I was like, ‘What?’”
Stan added,
“I’m devastated, because we come here like once a month for lunch and during the summer, I’ll bring my boat down here, dock over there, me and my wife will come over here for lunch.”

Investigation Findings

Fire investigators reviewed security footage shared by Triton Marina and found no signs of foul play. Master Deputy State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire stated,

“It was normal business hours yesterday. Everyone cleared out around 8:30pm, and from there, we have no activity on or off the property until about 1:10am where our investigators gleaned video and they were actually able to see the fire originating somewhere behind the property.”
