Hilary Duff recently spoke about her return to the music scene and gave insights into her upcoming single, This is What Y2K Dreams Are Made Of. Earlier this week, she announced the release of her new song, “Mature,” set for November 6. This marks her first new music since her 2015 album Breathe In.
During the Season Two finale of the Therapuss podcast with host Jake Shane, Duff explained that her comeback was inevitable. “It was always going to happen,” she said. “There’s no way that that was not going to be a part of my story.”
The pop star and former Disney actress shared how, after a decade away from music and now at 38 years old, she feels prepared to reconnect with her audience on a deeper level. “I feel ready to fill in the blanks and share with people and connect with them on the level of now,” she mentioned.
Hilary emphasized her strong bond with fans who have followed her since she was a child. “Obviously, it’s taken a lot of twists and turns and ups and downs and all of those things, but I have this crazy connection with fans that I’ve known since I was nine, 10 years old, and I just want to connect with them again,” she stated.
“We have gone through a lot of the same things — whether that’s complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorces, trying to find yourself in adulthood, family drama… Finally I felt safe enough and comfortable in my own family to step outside and open that part of myself up again.”
This fresh start represents Duff’s intention to share her current experiences and emotions through music, connecting authentically with her fans after many personal changes.
