A European airport has halted its operations following reports of drone activity nearby, marking the third such event within two days.
Vilnius Airport in Lithuania confirmed the airspace restriction due to the detection of a drone in its vicinity. A spokesperson stated:
Preliminary information indicates that the decision to restrict airspace was made after a drone was detected within the Vilnius Airport area.
Earlier, two major Belgian international airports had to suspend flights because of drone intrusions.
Initially, many flights were diverted to Liege Airport, which later also closed due to suspected drone activity.
This disruption has led to delays and some flight cancellations and might still impact flight operations on Wednesday morning.
