A cold front is expected to bring the first snowfall of the 2025-26 winter season to the Chicago area, with wind chills dropping into the teens early next week.
Rain is expected to move into the Chicago area on Saturday, possibly changing to a mix of rain and snow. The National Weather Service predicts about half an inch of snow, with no significant accumulation.
“It looks like any accumulation of snow we see Sunday morning [will] probably [be] just on grassy surfaces and maybe bridges and overpasses,” said Casey Sullivan, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
There is about a 60 to 70 percent chance of snow Sunday morning, but it is unlikely to have a major impact.
“It’s going to be a cold, windy, blustery day on Sunday,” said Sullivan.
By Monday morning, wind chills in the Chicago area are expected to be 10 to 15 degrees above zero.
The approaching cold front will bring cooler temperatures, windy conditions, and likely the season's first light snow, mostly affecting grassy and elevated surfaces in the Chicago area.
