Police in Hong Kong have arrested five individuals, including a 32-year-old man named Ng Tsz-lok, on charges linked to the 2019 protests.
According to Superintendent Simon Cheung Pak-kit of the National Security Department, the arrests were made in Kowloon Bay and the New Territories, and officers seized HK$250,000 (US$32,200) suspected to be linked to the case.
We emphasise that this case is independent from other old cases, and that it is established from new evidence.
A previous case related to a bomb plot had resulted in a jury finding three out of eight defendants guilty of conspiracy to cause an explosion, with jail sentences of up to 18 years handed down.
