Delhi Blast Horror: 8 Dead, Punjab & Haryana On High Alert As Terror Probe Begins
A catastrophic car explosion near Delhi's Red Fort has left eight people dead and more than twenty injured. Authorities have launched a major counterterrorism investigation, while neighbouring states Punjab and Haryana remain on high alert.

“We will ensure that no suspicious or dubious person will escape from our area and that peace prevails,”
stated a police officer stationed near the blast site. Following the explosion, law enforcement stepped up patrols, set up multiple checkpoints, and intensified vehicle inspections across Delhi and nearby regions.

According to India Today’s Kamaljeet Sandhu reporting from Mohali, a large-scale security operation is now underway. Night surveillance has been reinforced, and police have established numerous watch posts to prevent any potential terror-related activities.

The probe is being carried out by multiple agencies, including the Delhi Police Special Cell and the National Security Guard. Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the blast site, while Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met the victims receiving treatment at a local hospital.
“It's not a telltale sign of a usual explosion using RDX,”
one investigator noted, indicating that the characteristics of the blast—especially the absence of a crater typically seen in IED explosions—point to an unusual detonation pattern inside the Hyundai i20 vehicle.
